A 2015 winner of a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence, Bridge View Bed and Breakfast is a four-star Berwick-upon-Tweed guest house.
Lynda Weatherley is the host and owner of Bridge View B&B. The property has recently been refurbished and redecorated to a high standard. Berwick, being England’s northernmost town, is right on the Scottish border and steeped in intriguing heritage. Bridge View is centrally located, and that means smack dab in the middle. You'll be right next to the town centre and railway station. From Bridge View, it’s a three-minute walk to the station. From there you can hop on a train to Edinburgh or, in the other direction, to Newcastle. Being so centrally located on a quiet back street in Berwick means Bridge View has a spectacular view of the River Tweed and, true to its name, the historical Royal Border Bridge, built in the mid 19th century. Your eyes will carry past the bridge to the Eildon Hills. The newly developed Castle Vale Coronation Park, itself with inspiring views of the River Tweed and the Royal Border Bridge, is merely two minutes' walk away.
The two rooms at Bridge View both have pleasing amenities like flat screen television, hair dryer and hospitality tray. Both are appealingly finished with high quality bedding. The large room is spacious indeed, and can be modified from a double room to a twin room or a family room. This room has an en-suite double-shower and looks directly onto the river and Royal Border Bridge. The single room looks on to the lovely Bridge View garden and has an adjoining private bathroom which boasts both a shower and a bath. Shampoo and shower cream are provided for all guests. Wi-Fi is available throughout the house, at no charge.
In the breakfast room, you’ll be served a delicious meal. From the cereals to the black pudding, every ingredient is locally sourced. All tastes are catered for. There are vegetarian options and many temptations for those who are not vegetarians. Among other tasty things, you’ll be able to savour poached haddock, smoked salmon and haggis slices. Have either a full Scottish or full English, or just what your taste-buds crave. Don’t miss out on Lynda’s homemade whisky marmalade, which has become renowned among those who’ve already enjoyed it. It’s something of a special treat.
The walls of the breakfast room are detailed with pictures of Berwick. This will come as no surprise when you discover your host, Lynda, is a lover of local history. Lynda has many books on local heritage, especially those about the Freemen of Berwick, some of which date back many years. These books are a feature of Bridge View and are on show for the pleasure of curious guests.
